A dog helped a 3-year-old girl warm herself during a freezing night in Naie, Hokkaido after the car she was in together with her grandfather crashed amid piles of heavy snow.

Yoshimasa Soma, 81, and his 3-year-old granddaughter, Sukai Kimura, went missing after the two had gone out to walk Soma’s dog in the afternoon on Nov. 15. After failing to return home for several hours, the girl’s mother became worried and reported the case to the police.
81歲的相馬愛政與他3歲孫女木村澄海，在11月15日下午，祖孫兩人外出蹓相馬的愛犬後失蹤。在幾個小時後都沒回家，女孩的母親擔心起來，並向警方報案。
A passer-by found Soma’s car had rolled over in a riverside field in the neighboring town of Urausu at around 11︰25 a.m. the following morning. Police rescued Soma and his granddaughter who were stuck in the vehicle along with his pet dog.
翌日上午11點25分左右，一名路人在鄰近鄉鎮浦臼町的河邊野地，發現相馬翻覆的車。警方救出困在車內的相馬、他的孫女以及他的寵物犬。
Soma and the girl were immediately taken to a hospital with light frostbite, but their injuries are not life threatening, sources say.
相馬與女孩因輕微凍傷而立即送醫救治，不過他們的傷沒有生命危險，消息來源說。
According to police officials, the two had landed in the field after Soma had lost control of the car while driving along the river. Stuck in the field, the two -- and the 7-year-old Labrador Retriever, Junior -- had spent the night inside the wrecked car, taking shelter from the severe cold outside.
警方指出，相馬沿著河邊開車時車子失控，落在田野。由於困在野地，兩人與7歲的拉布拉多Junior只好在受損的車內過夜，以躲避外頭的嚴寒。
The girl told her mother that she "hugged the dog, who kept her warm throughout the freezing night."
