南非諾貝爾文學桂冠葛蒂瑪（Nadine Gordimer）如是說

我是大家說的天生作家
I'm what's known as a natural writer
我從小就開始寫作
I have been writing since I was a child
我曾在其中碰到的問題是
I had problems in that
我的3本書曾經被禁
three of my books were banned
那對作家來說是奇怪的經驗
that's a strange experience for a writer
我很幸運的是
I was fortunate that
我用英文這個世界語言寫作
I was writing in a world language in English
所以我很幸運能在別的地方出版
so that I was fortunate enough to be published elsewhere
但是你希望自己的人民在自己的國家閱讀你的作品
but you want to be read in your own country by your own people
你的書被禁的時候，你會覺得自己有點像鬼
and you feel a bit of a ghost when your books are banned

南非作家葛蒂瑪（Nadine Gordimer）前天以90歲高齡在南非約翰尼斯堡家中過世。她在1991年獲得諾貝爾文學獎受訪時，談到自己的著作曾在南非被禁。
